Did I ever tell you you’re my hero?

As my debut novel goes to pre-sale, it’s a bittersweet time for me. You see, my beloved father died eight weeks ago, and he won’t get to see this story, that I am so proud of, get out there.

This is such an important piece of the puzzle for me, and part of the new direction I am dedicating my efforts to over the coming years. Having the support of global publisher Wiley, and outlets like Big W stocking the book from May 1, has been extremely encouraging.

Knowing what I do about the future of Generation X and beyond when it comes to retirement has led me to push the boundaries of how to reach people with this important message: our work with Griffith University proved that up to 80% of Gen X and Y will fall short of a comfortable retirement. This is simply unacceptable.

So, I have taken a novel approach to solving this problem. I have written a fictional story of six Gen X’ers who go to their 25-year school reunion, each with their own set of problems and unique financial circumstances. Yes, there’s alcohol and illicit substances involved – after all this is a story designed to entertain. But there is also an incredible financial planner called Ben who, through his skill as an adviser, intervenes in their lives.

Ben has been inspired by many of you, our incredible adviser audience. He is wise, honest, sincere and truly cares about helping people. And boy, does he have an impact.

This book celebrates great financial planning. It will help people understand the impact great financial advice can have on your life, and should help more people reach out for advice.

I am a massive advocate for the life changing nature of great financial advice. I hope by my storytelling more people can become advocates of what you do too.

Please help me support this important message for Australians by buying a book, and telling your friends. Or even buying some for your prospects and clients.

I look forward to your feedback, and am more committed than ever to keep finding ways to connect Australians with great financial advice.

Thanks for your support – it means the world to me.
