How 27 Minutes A Week Can Improve Your Financial Future

Everyone who has had children will understand, once you have a family, your priorities and what you really value, changes.

In the latest episode of The Investment Series we meet Ross, who has a young child, with another on the way.

The first thing I recognised about Ross was his concern about the future. Would he make enough money to support his family? Could they live with one salary when his wife stopped working?

Worry and stress about money is something that is a reality for most families at many points in their life. While getting the kids through school and paying off your home is the most important thing in your 30s to 50s, the worry then turns to what it will take to be able to stop work, and how much you will need to live the kind of life you want. This includes giving children and grandchildren experiences that will make your retirement years everything you have imagined them to be.

It’s surprising how many people leave the last 20-30 years of their life to chance. By not planning for retirement earlier and scoping out the kind of life you want to live, and what it will cost, it is more than likely that the goals will not be achieved.

It was great to see recent retirees like Maria Cook planning to use her capital to create income, and enjoy all the things she loved about life – travel, food and most of all her children. Not everyone is this fortunate – but it’s never too late to start planning.
