It’s what you don’t know that gets you

As we launch our latest series of After Hours, featuring the CTOs of super, I got to thinking that more than ever, it is what you don’t know that can kill you. And when it comes to tech, there is a lot I don’t know.

It was fascinating to hear insights on the challenges super funds have faced during COVID-19 and early release, and as well as hear how the financial planning businesses of tomorrow will be able to utilise technology more to make compliance easier and lower business overheads to create more profit.

Perhaps the scariest moment of all was hearing the tips on how to make your home networks secure. I suddenly became aware that most of us are now working from home, on our personal wifi, which has nowhere near the security that office systems do. It was reassuring to hear the little things that could be done relatively easily to make your home office more secure.

After Hours has always been about leaders sharing their views – on what has happened and what is yet to come. This kind of thought leadership is crucial to keep us an industry looking forward, when many of us are more isolated than ever working from home.
Again, I would like to thank Orbis Investments for collaborating on this project with us – they bring intelligence, long-term thinking and the ability to spot what’s important for the interviews every time.

So enjoy our latest season of After Hours – we have more coming, and will continue to share thoughts from some fascinating leaders with you, along with ways you can capitalise on what they have to say.

Until next time,
