When your baby is all grown up

Over the past 19 years, I have discovered that creating and running a business is a lot like parenthood. Having three sons and two companies, I have experienced the similarities often. In the beginning, it’s all very new and exciting – and then you realise how much work is involved. You get tired, but the love you have for this idea, just like a person, keeps you coming back to shape it, mould it, at times save it, and grow it.

So today is a momentous occasion. One of my babies, No More Practice Education, is all grown up. The acquisition by OneVue is an exciting step for NMPE – to be able to do more for our industry in giving advisers education and tools to help people. To connect our fund manager partners to advisers and consumers in a way we have not been able to before.

OneVue not only bring scale, being the largest managed fund administrator in the country, but they also bring deep experience in technology, and a passion to champion those in the industry that add true value to the investor – the adviser and the fund manager.

But the icing on the cake for me personally is the opportunity to focus on what I love best, storytelling and content creation, and work with one of the most inspirational CEOs I have met, Connie Mckeage. For those of you who remember her on our After Hours program Connie grew up in small town in Canada (even smaller than my hometown Gunnedah!) and has a wisdom and energy about her that I, and our audience agreed, found inspirational.

She’s tough but always fair, and has led OneVue with a tenacity and vision that has seen it go through stellar growth. I have no doubt she and her excellent team can take NMPE to the next level. Even better, I still get to be part of it.

I have signed a long-term consulting agreement to continue to work with No More Practice Education, to write editorial, to create and host the TV show, and conduct interviews. I also get to contribute to strategy and ideas. My media production company, (and first baby!) evolution media group has signed a long-term agreement to continue to make the content. It’s a win/win for all involved, especially advisers and our fund manager partners, who will benefit from everything OneVue can bring to the platform.

My Managing Director, Marcus Field, will go across to OneVue, to continue to run NMPE, and become the Head of Marketing for the OneVue group. He will have a bigger team and more resources, and I can’t wait to see what he can do in this environment. NMPE would not be where it is without him.

So to you, my dear community, it’s not goodbye. Its “hurrah!” for what else we can bring you in the future. We will continue to bring you independent, high quality educational content, and I am committed to bringing more Australians to advice and investing through my efforts with my book and public engagements to raise positive awareness. It’s a lifelong mission to help Australians make the pension irrelevant, and I believe this deal just took the mission a giant step forward.

We will keep you posted of all developments. As always, I thank you for your support. You are what makes NMPE successful.

Until next time,

Vanessa
