If you are wondering if I’ve gone feral, the answer is, well, no more than usual. The C-word I’m referring to in this case refers to C-suite executives: leaders in our industry who run billion-dollar businesses, yet, who are not your usual media commentators.
They are part of our Collective, a group of like-minded organisations who believe the financial capability of Australians is vital for all our futures. We’ve had some fascinating conversations with them recently which we have the pleasure of sharing with you. We’ve asked them to comment on what’s important in 2018; what to watch out for; what to be wary of; and what they see as the biggest trends, opportunities and threats on our horizon.
While traditional media has been covering start-of-year outlooks on stock tips and sectors, we wanted to wait to share this thought provoking commentary on issues that don’t get as much media or industry attention as they should.
As usual, our Collective did not disappoint. In the following outlook clips you will hear about what the lack of leadership in Australia has meant for our future prospects; how the women’s movement has been reinvigorated, yet still has no clear direction; how our lack of investment in infrastructure and education will leave our children behind; and why Asia is even more important than we initially expected when it comes to investment returns.
What I enjoyed most about these conversations is the fact that they are focusing on big picture issues in our society, both at home and abroad – conversations that can lead to real change because of the nature of the people having them.
If you want to think bigger, and encourage your clients to do the same, spend two minutes watching these videos. You can also earn CPD hours – an added bonus for the investment of your time.
I’m determined to make this year one where I focus on what really matters – a view many of the Collective share. Join the conversation and do the same.
Until next week,
