Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.
These are famous words from one of the great American presidents – John F Kennedy.
This has been true, not only in life but also in business. So many people work hard and show courage and staying power in extremely trying circumstances. We are led to believe that hard work pays off – that if we put enough in, we get more out. Sadly, this is not always true.
The figures for businesses that fail can be astonishing, and for most of them it won’t have been for lack of trying.
One thing that I absolutely know to be true is the business that combines hard work and effort with purpose and a clearly defined direction do tend to succeed.
Why?
Because the direction and purpose save time, avoid costly distractions and tend to attract the right type of clients and revenue that fit the purpose. But getting to that point of clarity on your own can be hard.
Whether your business is young or mature, it tends to pay to keep redefining your direction and remembering your purpose. We saw this close at hand when filming the Transformation Series, when our three business owners were asked to recall their purpose and redefine their direction.
It really reminded me, as someone who has run a business for 15 years, that unless you keep reassessing your business and resetting the framework for your plans to take the business forward, you can lose yourself in the day to day without ever realising the true value of what you are creating.
So we are here to remind you, as I have to remind myself, to continue to show courage and to keep working hard – but you have to commit to aligning that hard work with a clearly communicated purpose and clear direction to truly realise your business potential.
If you want to clearly define your purpose and set a clear plan of action and direction for your business, we have created the 30 Day Business Challenge to help. Join us today to grow your business the way it deserves.
